“This Is The Way The Ladies Ride” – Free music for babies

by | Apr 23, 2014 | Baby Games, Baby Music, Free Stuff | 0 comments

This Is The Way The Ladies Ride is a knee-bounce rhyme. This style of activity is a great way for you to support you baby’s developing body awareness and balance. The spoken word also encourages language development and bonding.

Knee-bounce rhymes are also very good giggle inducers. I bet your bub will crack a giggle with this one!

This Is The Way The Ladies Ride

What to Do

  1. Prop your baby on or against your knees facing you.
  2. Bounce baby on your lap as you say the rhyme.
  3. Start with a gentle bounce and get progressively livelier and bouncier as you go along.  Note! If doing this activity with a baby under 6 months, please rock gently.
  4. If you choose, at the end of the rhyme “hobbledy-hoy!” you can gently drop baby through your legs while still holding on to her.

This is the way the lady rides
Trit trot, trit trot, trit trot

This is the way the gentlemen ride
A-clippity clop, A-clippity clop

This is the way the farmers ride
Gallop-a-trot, Gallop-a-trot

This is the way the old man rides Hobbledy, hobbledy, hobbledy hobbledy-hoy!
